Future Prospects of Bartronics :
Bartronics is investing more than Rs 270 crore into a new 80 million smart cards manufacturing facility that is going to make it one of the biggest players in South Asia and enable revenue growth by 130 per cent CAGR over financial year 2007 till 2009 ending.
BIL is one of the first organized players to provide end to end solutions in India with more than 1,600 clients and five international distribution centres. Strong technical know-how has helped the company to move up the value chain from bar code to RFID solutions and increase realization per client. The company has also diversified into the retail space considering the low penetration of organized retail, a sector that is clocking at 30 per cent CAGR growth.
Smart cards are expected to take the company into top gear with South Asia’s largest manufacturing facility, having an order book for more than 100 million smart cards over the next two years is expected to generate 3.5 times of current revenues from the segment alone. The company’s projects involved inventory and logistics management, time and attendance and asset tracking systems.
The recent announcements in the 2008 Indian budget about use of smart card in Indian railways and smart card-based methodology for the public distribution system deliverables such as food grains. Smart cards for PDS consumers is to be pilot tested by the Haryana and Chandigarh Governments. If the project works well, Bartronics, a key player in the domestic smart card business, may benefit.
